A First Year Conference Agenda
Early Bird pricing for SW2con.com is ending on March 31st, so I thought I'd say a few words about this agenda.
When I started work on the very first GlueCon agenda back in 2008, I was presented with a lot of sessions that began by "defining the cloud" or "introducing an API." We were at the beginnings of that big trend, and it showed through a desire for definition.
SW2con and a focus on AI for software development and deployment is, most assuredly, NOT THAT. Rather, the topics for SW2con are so vast, and evolving at such speed, that one feels a bit like a physicist trying to observe particles in an accelerator -- blink, and the whole thing morphs. It is, then, a bit of a challenge trying to get ahead of things enough that we don't end up with an outdated agenda by mid-May; all while trying to read enough tea leaves to know what that possible future might be.
On this agenda, you'll find sessions that try to explore some cutting edge topics, and some that are deep dives into AI tools and tech that are already in use. I've tried to strike a balance between use case and "just over the horizon." Ultimately, though, I'm in search of energy, passion and a vision of what is -- or will be -- useful.
The wave of how AI will change software development and deployment is only just now starting to form. Over the next few years, we'll see several iterations, as methods and tech sharpen and evolve. We're at least 3 years from this wave cresting, and by the time we move from early adoption to mainstream adoption, the world of AI and software will look radically different than it does even today.
SW2con is our attempt to explore that transformation with all of you. This first year is our attempt to try to put some lines of the field. Undoubtedly, this iteration of the conference will see a core community of "believers" gather, and in many ways, it will be their insights that help to steer us forward.
I hope that you'll join us and help shape what SW2con will become. Use "150EB" to take $150 off of your early bird registration -- see you there!
